The latest GNOME version has recently been made available, and it features many new additions, updated packages and enhanced functionality. Just to name a few of this version's highlights, here's a minor list of what you will enjoy using GNOME 2.24:

Empathy Instant Messenger - an IM client that supports most of the common chat protocols, such as Jabber, MSN, Google Talk & Bonjour, but also video chat.

Ekiga 3.0 - has undergone major improvements like a new interface, support for PBX line monitoring, H.264/H.263+/MPEG-4/Theora video codecs and accelerated video.

New Sound Theme Support - alert sounds are now less likely to interfere with the movie or the music player.

Better Digital TV - support for remote text subtitling and high-resolution YouTube videos have been included in Totem.

More about the features included in GNOME 2.24 here.
