If my friend agrees to retrieve Pioneer's 585A firmware, I will post it here.

If you need any info on this model, please ask.

Are any of the already known region free hacks working on 380?

I tried the hack on 585a with my nokia 6600 & Ir Remote but it doesn't work as in 575a did.

^_^ Ok-Ok I'll try to convice him. If not, I'm getting the player too next week.

As for the region free, the CCF template here ->
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files...-dvd-dv565a.zip
worked like a charm! Should work with 380 too.

Functionally they are almost the same, but hardwares are a little bit different and these firmwares are incompatible.

It uses almost the same chip.

It's possible, but I don't have a time for this... Maybe someone else will do it.

Hi, I'm new to this board, and I have a quick question: Will the Polish (?) firmware mentioned in this topic give me a region free DV380 player? And what other features does it contain? I understand English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and German, but Polish ;-)

Or instead of flashing the player: Is there a remote hack?

No.

Yes. It's the same hack as for DV-470/575 players.

I'm already upgrade the firmware of my DV-380 and was successfuly!
I'm not testing yet in greek subtitles, but I tested in english (with .srt file).
Everything is normal, except the dissapearing of sub's. The letters it seens to stand alone on display, for long time, until the next subtitle appears.
How I can fix that?

You know a regular (and playable) file extension to choose for subtitles on my DivX files? (I was tested the FAB, .sub -that show me only numbers in the screen-, .srt -that show me that I mention above- and .ssa -the last show me nothing-)

Thanx to anyone wants to help me.

Apparently Pioneer found a 'silly' way to bypass the 'timing problem' in srt subtitles, which exists in almost all mediatek players. To fix idx-sub/xsub timing/displaying problems, you need to change the ARM code, things that Gufiak can do. Little patience.

As for alternative subtitles, try the new XSUB format used by Divx6 Media Format. You can use xvid avis as source video. Here are the tools to work with:
http://users.tellas.gr/~gdion/tools/srttob...p2xsub+fuse.rar

More info for the SRT2XSUB Convertion/DivX6 Media Format Muxing here:

Hello everyone, I can’t decide wether to buy Pioner DV-380, a Sigmatek XM-400, or a LG LG DVX9843K??

Specs:
Piooneer DV-380-S
Sigmatek XM-400 Pro
LG DVX9843K

Will new FW for the Pioner DV-380 eventually support packet bitstream in the future?

What about subtitles, which player+FW displays them better?

I want to buy the Pioneer, but the PB thingy is holding me back

Good work cHiEsA, in my opinion this is the most critical issue to be fixed. Fonts can be easily changed then.

1.07? Oh God, we must keep track of firmwares cause someone will get confused. Until now we have 1.04, 1.05 & 1.07. Seems that Pioneer has found some serious bugs with previous versions.

cHiEsA's modded firmware is indeed version 1.04.

drvenom, we have 1.04 version only. If you want to have newer version modded then try to download it from your player using cable. But before doing this check if you really have 1.07 version in your player.

I attach a picture with the firmware version i have...i think this is the firmware version, rigth?

I don't have a serial cable and my ability to make one i think is very bad but i can try it!

I have no problems with ogm files (almost the files i tested), and i think subtitles works well (the files i tested).

i hope the link works well...

Hello, I think I was the person that mentioned 1.05 on my dv-383 but I double checked it and it was
really 1.04. My mistake, for that I apologized.

Since I'm writing this, any fw for dv-383 that fix the subtitle timing and larger fonts...

TQ

Hi,

I'm trying to crack the region coding on my DV380S.

I see there is a CCF template. Does that make the player region free? I notice the model is different. Is it usable? If yes, how do I use the CCF template on the DVD player? Is there certain procedure?

Thanks.

A symbian phone (like nokia 6600) will do the trick. Just download Psiloc Total IR Remote (15-day trial) & this CCF template, install Total IR to your phone & import to it the template. Assign a button to the code region free hack, press the button facing the IR of the phone to your player. You'll know it has worked when the player shuts down automatically. Power your player now and it is region free (regarding it still says Region 1 or 2).

Not sure what you mean by packed bitstreams, do you have a sample that I can download? It has played every XviD file that I have tried just fine.

I have a cable, and could maybe extract the the firmware if I only knew where the correct connection points are located on the DV-380 ;)

Here you can find instruction how to make a cable and how to connect it to DV-470/575. The pinout should be the same in DV-380. Instruction is in polish but there is nothing important in text, images are much more important.

The problem now is, this new player comes with 1.04 version.
This version it's so buggy. It's really incredible :cursing:
