br0max,

Congratulations!! Fantastic Firmware!!! :D

I have a LG DK-8321N, and the firmware is working just fine!!

The only problem is that we lost the portuguese menu and the Karaoke function, what is understandable since your firmware was based on a different player.

Do you know if the same modifications could be applyed to the DK-8321N original firmware?

Thank you.

Thanks for the help!

PS: If this firmware doesn't works with this model, may you guide us to add the same features to our firmware?

Congratulation ! really nice work !

It is a shame that except in Poland, LG doesn't provide official firmware updates  :puke: ... and such a fantastic feeling that guys like you do a better job than LG and share your work with others !!! :coolspeak: :coolspeak: :coolspeak:  :first:

Yet like others here (portuguese, spanish people ...) I would like to keep my original menus language (for me french) if possible.

I know the unofficial firmware is based on some polish or romanian or so ... recent firmware, so there is only english and some Eastern Europe languages. But as you modified / added some new menus ... isn't it possible to also translate the menus ? or to extract the menus translation from some older localised firmware and inject it in the new one ?

I don't ask you to translate the menus in all the languages yourself ..., but if you could post some pointers explaining how to modify the menus or maybe some tools, I think that in every country there will be some skilled people to translate the menus in their own language and share it ! :peacefingers:

Thank you very much, :arigato:
Nibbler.

I'm glad you've liked my mod.

I can see there is huge demand for other menu languages, but don't worry. I'm currently implementing these V2 features to the firmware V1.385201 and there will be menu languages in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Czech and Greek. At least these languages I'm able to identify in firmware, but couple Asian and Arabic languages is unknown to me. And I definitely need translation (only DivX part) to all languages.

A lot of people are wondering, if this firmware is going to work his/her player. If you make factory reset (board.softpedia.com/index.php?showtopic=693&view=findpost&p=4192) and see "MODEL: LV8D3020B" then this firmware will work on you player without problems. Otherwise you have to rename the firmware in order to upgrade your player, but there might be side effects like missing features etc. And little possibility that it's not going to work at all.

There is common belief that all 8xxx firmwares are compatible with every 8xxx players. But because I can't guarantee it, I'm starting to gather information what players are compatible with this firmware. So if you have succesfully upgraded your player, send me a PM and tell me what is your player model, did you have to rename the firmware and how, is there any side effects like missing features etc.
Maybe we can build a compatibility list and help other LG users.

Regards,
br0max

PS. I'll be offline for a week, so don't worry if you get no response from me.

I try today, and works.
I never use the dvdaudio feature... and i don't have anything around me to try it... but aside of that and the dvd menu are all in english (no more spanish)... all are far of good:
¡are awesome!

My dvdplayer (the same internal model of you dvd player) works like a sharm, with all the br0max's mod2 features.
I love it :peacefingers:

Will there be any future upgrades to support nero digital (MP4) files? or is this a limit in hardware, and not a firmware issue?

Updated my LG DVX8851, and the firmware worked perfectly!!

Just missing nero digital support now...

Thnx!

I bring it back to the old firmware, because I want to listen to my brandly new DVD Audio (R.E.M. - In time).....

waiting for a Mod v2 for our dvd player....;)

Hmm, this is interesting. If 8x51 firmware works on 8944x players, will 8944x firmware work on 8x51 players? Have anybody tried that?
Because it would be nice to have this DVD Audio feature to 8x51 players too.

A lot of people are asking firmware modifications to this or that model, but it is very hard to make modifications to other players when I can't test them. The V2 features are so advanced that it requires a lot of custom code and it can't be done just by changing couple hex code. But if you can be satisfied with V1 features, I can easily implement these features to almost every firmware.

Btw. I haven't got much information for compatibility list, so please keep sending it to me.

Well, i have fully tested on dvk 8944x, LV8B72200.

With you FW mod2, br0max, the i.model change to: LV8D3020B, and as JLOocioso says: DVD audio is missing, and the karaoke too. And, the DVD menu doesn't have spanish (with the oficial firmware have spanish osd).

This is an screenshot before:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/2048/lg...ctoficial7b.jpg

And this is after upgrade, the 8944x with your firmware:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/149/lg8...ctbr0max1iv.jpg

AND...
...some friend mine upgraded the 8742x and he lost no feature. All is ok, only the osd in spanish too.

Thanks again :peacefingers:

Br0max,
Do you remind that I spoke to you (PM) regarding that when I sent that firmware V1.385201? That firmware was of a 8944x original that supports DVD-A. B)

Please, add the DVK-8721X (8721NCM) to your compatibility list.

Yes, I remember you PM. But I was thinking what happens if you upgrade 8944x firmware to 8x51 player that doesn't have karaoke etc. Does it work or not? I'm not confident that all 8xxx firmwares will work on every 8xxx players. And actually the firmware version was V1.385201 not V1.85201.

Please send me (PM) what are the Model (LV???????) numbers of these players and I will add them to the compatibility list.

I forgot the "3". Edited. I'll send the MODEL ID.
Well, if your modded firmware maked to 8651 works fine on 8944, we can say that the 8944 suffered a downgrade, right? Then the inverse can be true, you'll make a upgrade from your 8651 to 8944.
We know that the name of the model LG is moving more for sale area that for internal differences. Because, it is impracticable so much firmware versions they exist for the amount of models in the market

Yes and no. There is hardware differences between these players. Example 8x51 players doesn't have mic sockets (and hardware) for karaoke. So 8944x firmware might be looking for these hardware and if it doesn't find it, then it might hang up. But 8x51 firmware just ingore these "extra" hardware on 8944x player.
If there is someone that disagree with me, please be my guest and try 8944x firmware on 8x51 player and prove that I'm wrong. ;)

It was a typo. There isn't any V1.85201 and probably never will...

Well, I don't have a 8x51 but, I have a 8x21 (without DVD-A support and without 5.1 out) and I could make the test. Would you accept the result in the case of success?
I think that the capacities of the apparel are not in the version of the firmware and yes in PROM OPTION. Because they not change after a upgrade.

8321N - PROM OPTION : 42 52 02 47 02 55 F4 FF
8721X - PROM OPTION : 50 45 01 47 02 55 F4 FF
8944X - PROM OPTION : 43 4C 01 67 02 55 FC FF

CHALLENGE: If I obtain success, will you modify the firmware 8944X what I sent you (with menu in portuguese/espanish) for the capacities of your version 2?

The lastest firmware:
http://cl.lge.com/download/product/010202/...tualizacion.zip
English, Spanish and Portuguese menus.

Firmware version: 1.385201

Can you do the changes on it?
If you don't want to do all the v2 changes... can you do the "hot" changes to it?, like:
- no grey background on subs
- bigger font (the biggest of the mod2, the "level 3" font).
- white with an black outlined
- wrapping and more than 2 lines of subs
- total center subtitles
¿Can you do that please?

I try to learn but is a really hard to make some of the changes, for me.

Thanks for all in advance, br0max :peacefingers:

Hi!

I am ready to launch a new version to LG DVX 8x51 players.
It is based on firmware V1.358201 and have couple new features.
But the most important thing is that there will be menu languages in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Czech, Greek and Finnish. (At least these languages I'm able to identify in firmware.)

The language files are more or less complete, so I need your help to translate missing parts (at least Divx part) to languages mentioned above. If you are willing to help, please send me PM ASAP. Thank you, Merci, Gracias, Danke, Obrigado, Grazie, Dank, Köszönöm, Dziekuje, Spasiba, Tack, Dekuji, Efharisto, Kiitos :D

Regards,
br0max
