Fixstars, the company that acquired Terra Soft last week (November 11th, 2008), announced a new release of the Yellow Dog Linux operating system for SONY's Playstation 3, Apple PowerPC G4/G5, IBM Power Systems and YDL PowerStation. Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 is based on the CentOS Linux distribution, a RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) derivative, and it offers an updated Linux kernel, Firefox and OpenOffice.org, a better graphical wireless configuration tool, and a new tool called ps3vram, which uses the PS3's video RAM for temporary storage or SWAP.

Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 costs $49.95 USD
