Here is the situation ..A guy called Cau30 has the key!!!! but he won't shared with anyone.  He could it whith a mobile serial cable..The upgrade via CD at this moment ..IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! I tried many times whith different CD-R medias...

I have am 578 with divx support and no external subtitle support.
The firmware version is 1.44 with is the same of the old  575 firmware, so I believe
that the "hacked" 578 has the 575 board.
And now there is an 578 with the same features of the latest MTZ firmware:

That´s why I think it´s possible to use the 575 firmware on THIS 578.

well, i entered the link above and asked some questions to the seller of the modded 578...its obviously that he wont tell his secret 
but ... he said:
i have the original fw of 578 and modded it based on MTZ fw of 575
its impossible to use the 575 fw cause the ROMs are different
even by interface (serial cable) u wouldnt be able to update the player
by serial cable the flash memory isnt fully erased
what i do is remove the flash memory and reprogram it

The 578 with divx support accepts 575 fw update.
I just update it to 2.09 fw

Yes. I just burned the cd and applyed the upgrade.
Just remenber that my 578 already played div-x, just missing external subtitles.

I ask the same questions to the Mercado Livre sellers they said some 578 play divx some not.  I just dont understand. i dont believe pioneer sell two different models. With and whitout mpeg4 chip... very strange.

They don't do it. The 578 with div-x support selled on Brazil has it rom "clonned" from the 575, so it is really an 575. They just use the 578 because the 575 isn't selled on brazil.
The mercado livre said that I couldn't do the upgradee with divx, but I did it withou problem. You can't do it with the regular (or official) 578 that is selled on USA.

I'm happy to know about the 575-578 infomation. But I still dont know if there is a 578 that does not play divx. It's nonsense.  The sellers said: Mine dont play divx or Some play, some not. I just want a model that play divx, but in Porto Alegre there is no way to get one. Mercado Livre is the only way... I think.

By the way you mak e the mtz firmware upgrade and what the link of the official firmware you use for subtitles.
