your firm 1.09.03_gufiak_subz3ro_CP1251_CP1254.zip can display code CP1252 (latin, spanish characters)?

Roar, have you been able to install the gufiak's firmware. I've been searching all over the net, and I can't find any update for the HTZ-131, I can only find your post.

Or does anybody else know how can I make this model to read multisession discs and to accept larger filenames for external subs. Also

The HTZ-131 have different funtions compare the DV-383 (380). Consequently the Gufiak's firms may not work propertly in the HTZ-131.

BTW the multissesion disk; one of my tested disk have 8 multissesion burned in a CD (and still open) and both models DV-383 & HTZ-131 can read without problems (it take several seconds than normal but it read at last). The last videos that burned was a couple of .avi & .divx files encoded in new divx 6.2 codec and play ok.

I've downloaded and installed modified FW of Gufiak's 1.09.3 FW from Sub3ero. In new version, I can't choose a font size any more. In Initial settings/Subtitles/Fonts menu, there are following options: Simple, 2x Outline (1p) (2p) and Black background. In last FW, there was a option here to choose font size (normal, big, and very big).
Maybee, this option is still in original Gufiak's FW, and not in version from Sub3ero. Can somebody help me and check this for me in FW from Gufiak?

Good day.

I spent much time to find in firmware by gufiak possibility to add these things:

1. when playing mp3, with RC choose file to listen by number. So as I could press on RC
1,2,5 and player start playing mp3 file with number 125
2. make player to continue play mp3 in other dir. (Now player only return to first file
in directory.)

If anybody can help me - where in firmware search for subrouting to patch or
any idea.

It's been mentioned in my post, where the modded firmwares are attached, that the CP1250 version does NOT have font size switchable anymore (but outline instead). I decided to remove the font switching since we (already) have line wrapping feature implemented - so the subtitles will never be cut off-the-screen. If you are missing this feature, you can still use original Gufiak's firmware for codepage 1250.

You removed the font switching only at CP1250 version? That's very sad. I allways used your modified FW, but I miss a lot the big subtitles. I'll try Gufiaks original version.

That's was I assume. That the name means a range of code from the 51 to 54 (inluding the 52). Thanks for the job.

If you press PLAY just after the player loads datas, before pressing MENU to get into OSD, all mp3 files will be played, no metter what folder they are placed in. The only inconvinience is, that this would not allowe you to choose the first mp3 file to be played and still playing all mp3 files on a CD/DVD.

Nope, I don't know why these characters are not correctly displayed. The codepage is implemented according to standard which you can see in the included PDF file as well. Might be, that this is an issue with your subtitle text...

For all 1.09.03_gufiak_subz3ro_CP1250 users
Anyway, when verifying the characters, I have found out that there is a little bug with original Mtz's font, that is (in variety of outlines) used in my CP1250 firmware mod. There is missing "Ľ" character (code 189) for this font... funny, I didn't notice that till now...
I will release fixed version that will have this character added soon.

This is the case, So I'd like first to go to some folder and then have continueus play throght rest of disk.
BTW, what part of FW is due to this possibility - 8032 or ARM?

1.09.03_gufiak_subz3ro_CP1250_outline_rev2.zip ... fixed CP1250 version (last posted), with optional outline in menu
1.09.03_gufiak_subz3ro_CP1250_font_size.zip ... also CP1250 version, but this time brandnew font with optional font size in menu - selection from 34,36,38 and 41 pixel height (it seems that many people did miss this feature)

You mean it cuts sometimes one resp. two last letters in the last word, in a line. I spoke about that with Gufiak, but we still do not know why it happens.

Just hold the "Surround" button on you RC a little bit longer... that's it.
With Gufiak's modified firmware, short press toggles "Shuffle" for MP3 wink.gif

The same spot, as on the pictures you can find on www.pioneerfaq.info. The pictures are taken from older players, but in DV-380 it is absolutely the same. You will find it on right top, left side of the player, regarding to having a player faced from front.

Thank for answer. But when I've opened player in the same spot as on picture I found only
strange white 3-pins jack. And the black wire is in 1 pin of this jack. Is this this place?
Or place is in contrary corner? There are 6 blank spots. If these are the one - which of then should

That is the proper place! There is some players that has some additional wires leading power from built-in jack to other parts of board. Probably, Pioneer made a part of boards with some kind of bug, and those wires are to fix the bug.
Because you have built-in jack you can easier connect serial cable to a player.
This looks probably the same as on this picture (Sorry, for it's quality)

I've connected to last 2 empty spots on jeck Rx and Tx from Siemens C45 cable. Ground to chassi.
MTKTool can not backup flash. Then I've changed Rx and Tx. No result again.

After that I've upluged black wire and used its spot as ground for cable. After execute MTKTool (no result again)
my player set dead.
And after I've return all in back places player is DEAD.

Is the possibility to return player to run state? Or this is the end ?????

Hello, new around here

I´ve read most of the thread and found solution to 1 or 2 things, but I still have some problems:

I have some series (anime) with vobsub subtitles, but they are not displayed on the player, or sometimes they aren't even detected (the only one that does display is Excel Saga, but as for others, no good). Is this a FW issue? or how can I manage to display them?
the other one is that some discs don't display ALL the files in it (Ghost in the Shell SAC2, from two diferent fansubs, it only shows the last 5 episodes, wich are from my fansub, but the previous ones arent even detected. also I have some WWE discs, the one I checked didn't show 2 files from smackdown, but IT DID show the ones from raw). Is this a packed bitstream issue? if it is, then I don't get it, other discs that have this kind of files are displayed correctly, but the video is jerky (wich is a known issue)

an finally, a question to gufiak: is subtitle collition going to be supported in the future? as well as color change and position change?

by the way, I have a DV-383 with gufiak's latest FW

PS: when a disc has only packed bitstream files (like the first two Bleach discs I have) they play correctly, dunno why

First of all I'd like to thank Guflak for this new fantastic masterpiece
is there a way fot the 585 to play divx with higher resolution (little bit higher, let's say out of standard)
If not will it be implemented in the near future?
Thanks

Hi! It's a long time since I checked this site.

I own a Pioneer 588a-s player.

Q): Does Gufiak's latest release allows DIGITAL OUT -WITHOUT- THE
FORCED AUDIO DOWNSAMPLING of Audio DVD/Super Audio CDs
found on the original firmware???

Yes/No.?

Request: Are there any chances of allowing a Custom
equalizing setting besides the other available
modes already found on audio?. (Live, Pop,etc)

Hello all,

Has anybody noticed a problem in ver 1.09.03 (subz3ero) related to the "Disc Navigator" for DVD/Video CD discs?
Chapters and time, on the thumbnails, are not displayed correctly in my 588A.
Can someone say if this is present in Gufiak's original 09./02/03 versions? So I won't bother trying...

Many thanks!

HOME MENU,INITIAL SETTINGS,go to OPTIONS (dont enter the submenu),press "DISPLAY" on the Remote Control

You should now see what region that i set, if it says 1 then exit the Home Menu, then press and hold the 'little' ENTER (the one within the numpad) button on the remote till your player turn it self off.
If it say 0 your player is multiregional and you need not to do anything.

Pioneer 588A.
Recently upgraded from Gufiac 1.09.2 to 1.09.3.

Problem is that when I try to play an avi movie file I experience a rolling screen which requires a machine reset (standby + stop) to correct. This happens about 1/3 of the time when I load a new DVD. It rarely happened with previous version. Reset corrects the problem and then the file plays OK.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Any suggestions?

I appreciate the work that has gone into this and like the fast forward and subtitle enhancemants.
Thanks

This is a known problem with Gufiak's 1.09.xx modified firmwares. He has known about that, but probably
had no time to fix that in this (1.09.03) firmware - maybe we'll have more luck with next firmware wink.gif
So it means you won't get rid of this problem, unless you use stock firmware for your player...

a small edit to my last post:

-my player plays packed bitstream without a problem, the video looks jerky when only GMC is used

-on my Ghost in the Shell disc the first 12 files are DivX encoded and the las 5 are XviD encoded, I image it coul be why only the last 5 files are displayed, but on the WWE disc ALL the files are XviD, some with and some without Packed Bitstream, but the ones that are diplsayed play well (and are both kinds)

and I forgot another question I had for gufiak the last time: will also zoom out be implemented in future versions, some videos need that since hardsubs are realy low on the video (about 10-15 pixels)

Hmm, what do you mean - better looking? From my own experience, I can tell you that any font below 38 pixel height is not usable for decent reading on TV screen, nor it doesn't look nice anymore. The only reason for using those "micro" fonts I saw in missing line wrapping - which is now implemented, so that's the point smile.gif But it's maybe a question of taste, and I can understand that - that's why there's been also version with optional font size released. wink.gif

Basically, the better font size is not the same for different tv display sizes... A 14" standard CRT tv
demands subtitles bigger than a 50" widescreen plasma tv. I have a 32" stanadard CRT tv too and
use a mid-size font with it (not the biggest font).

So, I wonder... if "you" (any guy) give me olny one size option, maybe it doesn't be the better size

Hi Rubens, I'm from Brazil too. I'll write in english so everybody can understand...
My player model is the same as yours. Which FW do you feel is the best for us, considering it's usefulness (subtitles, etc.). I'm using 1.09.03 from subz3ro.
Have you tried this mod? It features a 1252 codepage and, to my taste, has a better look (and, if that's you are asking, it has only 1 font size - very large).
And the original 1.20 FW from Pioneer, have you tried to install?

Nothing is perfect, though. Some minor bugs really annoy me (I know it's free and I'm grateful for the inspired work), like those cut-off numbers in OSD (press Display 2x when playing a DVD), divx filename too big in OSD, and DVD disc navigator w/o numbers.

Vamos nos manter atualizados para saber o quê nos serve melhor. Um abraço!

1. To what firmware to upgrade? Original 1.20 or 1.21? Gufiak 1.09.03.00? Whats the difference?
2. What gives this Original 1.2x firmware? When I upgrade to this FW, will my player still stay multiregion???

Thanx!

Start playing the video (you can pause it if you like), then press "PLAY MODE", select "SEARCH MODE", select "TIME SEARCH", key in the time, and press "ENTER".

I wish there was a one-button way to get to "TIME SEARCH" -- ideally if you hold down "PLAY MODE" for longer. Anyone? Anyone?
