It's cenetered in my all (three) 1.09.03 based firmwares.
That's also answer to your second quesion - nope, they are all based on Gufiak's former 1.09.03 firmware

Subz3ro, I really love the new style you create for background and menu. Gufiak has released a new version 1.09.03.01 that it solves the problem with the last letter of subtitles.
Are you planning to release a new firmware solving that problem?

My player is Pioneer 585-A.
There is a bug in Gufiak's 1.09.03.01. When watching divx with external subtitles and press Display, to see data about the movie, the title is now displayed with small characters and one can see it all. But, after closing the Display function, the subtitle of the movie is displayed with the smallest font and cannot be reverted to the size chosen (big is the best for me) but after Stop, entering the Initial settings and resuming the movie. A simple fast forward/rewind doesn't restore the subtitle to the chosen size.
The fimware I used is from www.pioneerfaq.info.

If you dowloaded that file before 13.06.2006 from Gufiak's forum (http://forum.pioneerdivx.net) and you want to use polish osd and cp1250, please do it again now and upgrade your player. Please remove all firmwares downloaded form Gufiak's forum before 13.06.2006!!!
1.09.03.01 firmware file ( B5CA1096-380-wycentrowane napisy.rar), that was in our download section before 13.06.2006, had serious bug that was reported here.
I am writting it for the third and
last time!!! FW 1.09.03.01 from Gufiak's forum is absolutely the same now as Subz3ro's.(you can find it few post up, in this topic) The only different is that we added Polish OSD and CP1250. The difference between 1.09.03.00 and 1.09.03.01 is that Subz3ro centered subtitle window. This "centering" unexpectedly much fixed the bug of cutting-off last letter.
This night, working with NoWorries, we updated also www.pioneerfaq.net download section, to remove any possibilitie that corrupted firmware is there any more. I hope you can download fw from NoWorries site soon (probably downloading there is temporary off, now. But will work soon.)

Cut-off letter, still can be accidently seen, but only when you set very big or biggest fonts. (Just fuigured that couple of days ago). But it does not change the thing, your fw is safe to use.

0 is a dimmer in 3 level. VFD dimmer under '0' key on RC (hold this key longer to change VFD brightness) Last level is display off.
Press small 'enter' on rc in main screen to make region free player or 'clear' to remove.

You should ask Pioneer for that, first.

Playing SACD and DVD-Audio is possible just for dv585, only.
If there is anybody that can send me dv-585 eeprom in a file, that is sort of hope to implement playing SACD and DVD-Audio on dv-380/383 etc. Otherwise, probably there is no possibility to unlock it.

I make theese with son2vsub and are displayed well on media player clasic, but when I burn it to a cd-rw and select the video to play, first it takes long to play the file as it is reading the vobsub file, but when it plays, it doesn't show 'em

Try to play movie and hold arrow "->" on remote control for a while. I thing you probably made your player to play the films slower, pressing arrow"<-" and you just never registered that.

Here is a list of keys with secondary functions:
*
1 - Volume+
*
4 - volume-
*
5 - switch the picture format (Letter box, Pan&Scan, 16:9)
*
7 - mute on/off
*
0 - VFD dimmer
*
ENTER² - set region 0 (region free) - you will be able to play any DVD-Video movie
*
CLEAR - set default region - it will bring back the default region which was set before
making the player region free
*
SURROUND - "SURROUD" is now the secondary function, primary function of this key is "Shuffle"
- used for mp3/wma playback
*
> (right arrow) - faster music/movie playback, increases the pitch
*
< (left arrow) - slower music/movie playback, decreases the pitch
² It is the Enter button among the numpads that you should use.
Theres also a list at:
http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/dv585.p...stion=Firmwares that will tell you all changes to the firmware that is made.
If some one will make a better new manual i'll gladly hoast it.

Dv393 for 99,99999999999999% is a bit different player than 380 etc. Those "bit difference" makes, that trying to upgrade this player with fw for 380/585, would kill the player. So do not even try to do that! Much wiser would be to try make a backup of it's fw. But as we did that twice here, this is also not very safe (two tryes, two killed players). So far, there is no avalible fw for that player now, at all.

Is it better to change the player for older version DV 380, they still have them in store and are a bit cheaper, I think there is still time to make the change?

Hello,
version 1.20 is a big improvement in the component output of the player. It is actually so big that I had to upgrade my player with that version.
Of course now I'm pretty sad, as I don't have the advanced features of Gufiak's software. The things I'm missing the most are the browser and the random MP3 play.
Is anybody trying to modify the 1.20 version (in the end image quality should be a common interest) or there's no hope at all?
Thanks and regards,

It is MTK based, but probably moded fw is far, far, undescribed future. Gufiak is involved in some very bussy stuff now, and for sure will have no time to do any mods in several months time. So far no one extracted fw from it, so there is no material to work with.

When you have set the region, the player will function as normal. And yes if you have Gufiaks modded firmwrae installed you can do it multiregional. But first you need to set the region number for the player. What region you should use is located on the back of the player.
Theres a lot of software out there to emulate the Pioneer Service Remote, witch by the way you can't buy and if you should be able to buy, it it is cheaper to leave the player to a service center.
If you have an IR tramsmitter on your computer, I might be able to supply you with WinLirc+Service Remote file, then you might get the dvd-player back to life.
Ok, thanks for the tip No-Worries. The player still have warranty, and I hope the service do the job with the remote.
I suggest it to my friend.

Audio:
380 192 kHz/24-bit D/A Converter
393 96 kHz/24-bit D/A Converter
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah, I too noticed that in Pioneer websites. So, by going from 380 to 393, the audio sampling would be downgraded ?? Or there
shouldn't be any differences detected ?? Please somebody with technical knowledge, comment on this ... Thank you !

Is it just me or does anyone notice some jerkiness in the video when a long subtitle is displaying in the last gufiak firmware?

Maybe somewhat related. I have noticed quite a bit of jerkiness and even stalling for a couple of seconds. Sometimes its so bad I have to give up. I then tried them on the computer and played fine. These were dvd copies I copied in linux with k9copy. I have a dv 380 player with latest firmware. Maybe I should downgrade and try them.
