You need to get a Pioneer Service Remote Control or a RC that can emulate that RC.
When you have it you need to press this buttons:

ESC + A.MON + NUMBER Where NUMBER correspond to what region number you want to set.
Remeber that you need to set the original region number of your player.
You can only do this once and there is no turning back if you set the wrong one.

I´m from cuba and i don´t have change to obtain the remote that you mention in your post, y need a cable solution or using Winlirc and infrared led. What could happen if i upgrade my firmware with a cable? Could be the death of my Player?

i open my player model dv-380 and dont have the white conector that another user mention in this post. Do you have any idea why?

Cable wont work. Player is waiting for you to set the region number.
WinLirc will work.

Send me an PM and I will tell you where to find the Service Remote Control for use with WinLIRC

Hello
I have a problem with my Pioneer DV-383...
I've seen about 5 movies on it so far and they all played fine and with subtitles.
Just now though I tried to watch a movie on a DVD-R I burned with 6 movies on it and it would not play its subtitles. I tried another movie on the DVD-R and it didn't have subtitles either.
For some strange reason, the other 4 movies did have subtitles...
I double checked if the avi/srt filenames were identical and they are.

So for some odd reason, 4 out of 6 movies on my DVD-R play with subtitles and the other two just...won't?

Help? thanks.

Would you specify, which FW you use, what was the date and where you downloaded it from, what size of fonts is used for file name, if you press "display" key while avi is playing? Whether file name shown after pressing "display" is smallest fonts or bigger?

Install Gufiaks 1.09.03 firmware.
Press the little Enter button, the one within the numpad, till player turn it self off.
Turn player on, install pioneer original 1.21 firmware.
You will now have a mutliregional player.

EDIT: The firmwares found at the English pages at http://www.pioneerfaq.info should have the french language intact.

Whats the AVIs name?
You have the original firmware and that one only shows the 8 first letters of the file name.

The name of the file is twin.peaks.s02e12-med.avi .Oh,and I'm using the modified firmware 1.09.03.1 CP1253 and it should be able to show the full name. The strange thing is that in an mp3 cd I have there is no problem and the files are shown correctly.Any ideas?Thnx.

EDIT. I've found the answer to the problem.I was using NTI and the default file system was Joliet and not ISO 9660 as it should be.Thanks anyway smile.gif

Hello,

First of all, thanks Gufiak for the GREAT firmware! It's wonderful!!

I would have 2 small requests for the Gufiak firmware.

I made some personal DVD-Audio with the freeware dvd-a author.

So, for non protected DVD-Audio 96khz/24bits, it would be great if it could stream on the digital out (coax or optical). Because my receiver does a better job than the integrated DAC in the Pioneer. For the moment I did author my audio files in the VIDEO_TS part with a black/blank fixed images.

Also, if it could remove the watermark detection when playing a DVD-Audio, that would be great as well. BTW, the DV-575 doesn't have watermark protection for DVD-Audio.

Thanks

Pitou!

I got the firmware, put onto CD, placed into DVD player - pressed play and it ejected. I then thought it was complete and relised nothing was responding so switched of at mains. Now it doesnt switch on and screen goes funny.
Have I totaly messed it?

No-Worries
Yes you have.

Only way to bring it back is with a cable now.
You should read instructions before you upgrade the firmware.

Now you need to take a look at: http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/dv585.p...ion=Dead_Player

HELLO EVERYONE. Man i havent updated my firmware for like a year on my Pionner DV588. I still have the 1.09.02.00 thats on the first page of the forum. I saw that now there is a 1.09.03.01 and wanted to know this question. I have some movies (mostly anime) that are i divx, when i play them in the player my tv kinda cuts off about half of the subtitle so i really can read it. Does this firmware help with that cause i was reading on pioneerfaq.info that "- fixed some problems with reading subtitles for divx/xvid, - intelligent subtitle line cut. It means that if subtitle line is too long and do not fit to the TV screen, the player cuts it just to fit the screen in more rows." or thats just for subtitle files like .sub

Thanks for you response

dinderi
This works for every subtitle format, supported by the player.

I meant like. I have some movies that dont have .sub or subtitle files in them. The subtitles are already in the avi files. What happeneds is that I get that overscan stuff were it cuts off some of the subtitle on the bottom, and was wondering does this firmware fix that cause of the firmware were updates. Thanks

I was also looking back on some of the pages and saw somthing called MTKReMaker and MtkWindows. I used Mtkwindow to move the window of the subtile up. Havent tested it yet cause i ran out of CDR. But my question is for this is that when I go to the window tap everything looks ok but when i go to the MPeg4 Subtitle tab i get Mpeg4SubtitleParams NOT found!
. I have a Pioneer DV588.

Has anyone tried to use this to bring the subtiles up. Mines cut off and I would like to move it about 1in up

Thanks

Thaks for your quick answer, Dinderi.

I have read many posts looking for the solution and I found two possibles solutions:
1) firmaware 1.07
2) firmaware 1.09

Could you please be so kind to tell me which is better for my dv 383 player, and if so where can I find the bin file?

Again, thanks a lot for your help.

Look at www.pioneerfaq.info at firmware for dv-380/585 and choose the newest Gufiak's Mod. It is much better then original Pioneer's one.

Thanks again.

You can use any burning program to burn FW. You just have to observe only few rules:
1. Firmware file name MUST be burnt with capital letters
2. Name of CD must be PIONEER written with capital letters
3. Disc must be burnt at once (DAO - Disc-At-Once - no multisesion)
And little advise, use rather CD-RW as you can use it again, later. Burning CD-R is a waste, after upgrade the only thing you can do with it, is to throw it away.

Bit of a newbie here with a strange problem re Disk Navigator not detecting all the files on a burned DVD.

I did the 1.09.03 firmware upgrade and successfully made my Pioneer DV-383-S region-free with no other apparent problems.

The one problem is that I burned three .avi's on a disk and the Disk Navigator can only detect the first one, thus the machine can only play the first one (as far as I know). My PC can see and play all three files. I then burned one of the files the DVD player can't see as the only file on a different DVD... and the player can see it and play it!

So maybe the player can only see one file per disk for some reason... but then I burned a second file on the second disk, and Disk Navigator can see both!

The only difference between the two disks is that the second one is DVD+RW while the first one is DVD+R, they're both TDK brand.

Any help much appreciated.

Mine does. (Notwithstanding the file-detection problem posted above.)

The player can see multisessional DVD-/+RW but cannot DVD+/-R. Your first disc was probably multisession, and the first file can be seen as the first burning session.

Thanks for replying.

So does this mean the player would be able to see all the files on a DVD+R disk so long as they were burnt in a single session?

Folks,

I got myseld a 585 an year ago and did the upgrade with the firmware I found here.

Anyone know if it's possible to set the dvd player (pioneer dv-588A) to play the next file when done playing the existing one? I have a bunch of small avi clips (anime actually) that I would like one right after the other. Even better would be a possibility to start from beginning once done.

If not, any possible hacks for this?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi guys,

this is not a complain or not even a nitpick, it's just to let you know that I have decided, after "testing" the B5CA1096.bin (dated 6-18-06) on my DVP-380, to revert back to the earlier Gufiak's version modification without the subtitle wrapping feature. I found out that the wrapping feature produced motion jerkiness in the image and judged that it wasn't worth the change. I did it in spite of the fact that I liked the new fonts introduced on the later revision but not enough to overcome the jerkiness issue. What I mean is that everytime the wrapping features went on, the image jumped forward or skipped frames.

Other than that, a million thanks to all of you.

Timbero.
