i'm confused about the lot of attached fw´s in this topic.
which should i use in austria (german speaking) ????????
subz3ro: Great work ! Subtitle size can be selected, and no jerkyness !
Thanks a lot !
Because some time ago I made some fonts with Width multiple of 4, I used them now in the Gufiak and subz3ro firmware.
I always use the biggest font for subtitles in all my players. (But I don't have any Pioneer player).
1250 (Firmware suitable for these languages: English, Croat, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene and Serbian.)
[attachmentid=431]
1252 (Firmware suitable for these languages: English, Albanian, Danish, Dutch, Faroese, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. )

Thank you very much, Mtz!
Your font looks pretty good, though it is "width:4"

I will test it later today, when I come home from the office...

Hi Mtz, on which fw release are these fw based ?????? 1.09.00 1.09.02 1.15.00 ????

by the way guifak, is there a new fw-release on the way
Based on the latest uploaded by subz3ro.

Mtz Your fonts are just great - I love them already
fritschi The firmware is Gufiak's reference 1.09.02 firmware (Polish version), I mentioned that already... it's been only slightly modified (data part) and compiled with fonts where width is a multiple of 4
mcat84 Attached you can find my modification #2 - using Mtz's awesome fonts and kinda blue skin (made by ximosoft, and modifed by me). I have slightly centered the subtitle window (though it was not much displaced), so now the subtitles should be shown correctly in the middle of the TV screen.
EDIT Fixed skin (dislocated scrollbar)

Where can I change the color of subtitles in the firmware ? White and yellow are OK, but I would really like a light gray subtitle (it's not as harsh as white at darker scenes)

Hello all!
I have som questions about this firmwares 01.09.02.00 from gufiak.
If i buy a Pioneer DV-380K and mod it with this firmware are it going to be region free? or must i buy Pioneer DV-380K multiregion to watch NTSC.
Does it suport swedish substitles and menus to?
gufiak you are best if this works.
You'll be able to make your player multiregion by pressing a key ENTER for about 5 seconds on the remote controll.
Swedish version of this firmware is also available too (I suppose).
NTSC/PAL doesn't depend on region free/region restriction. For example you can watch NTSC AVIs without removing region restriction. If you have any NTSC DVD with region 2, you can also watch it.

Hi.
Does anybody know how to use mtkFilenameLenPatcher? What the offset adress for fw.
Would like to modify new version of Pioneer's fw to have longfilenames.
Question to Gufiak:
Are you planning to implement Blacker than black function into fw, which have been added to Fonkcreator's fw for 575?
Same function can be found in Targa's firmware so called B.L.E.
I believe it is very important feature what most of us would like to have for our Pioneer's

after i upgraded from 1.07 to 1.09.02 fixed by subzero, i found problems with subtitles. for a few of my movies, the srt display timing is totally out of sync. and there's 1 movie that the vobsub is loaded but the words are not displayed. as far as i remember, the problems are not in fw 1.07. however, this fw does fix the problem that some subs are not loaded (due to filename problem i think).

i have this mutiple-avi-dvd that the player cannot detect properly (the only one of all my avi-dvd). after i insert the dvd, it'll take very long to load (Loading). when it's done, it'll detect the dvd as type "DVD", instead of "MPEG4".
the files in the dvd are
\Matrix.Revolutions.2003.DVDRip.XviD.iNT-TLF.CD1.avi
\Matrix.Revolutions.2003.DVDRip.XviD.iNT-TLF.CD1.srt
\Matrix.Revolutions.2003.DVDRip.XviD.iNT-TLF.CD2.avi

\The.Matrix.1999.DVDRip.XviD.DualAudio-DoS.CD1.sub

\The.Matrix.Reloaded.2003.CD1.DVDrip.DivX.AC3-ZEN.avi

most of the time it'll detect as DVD. but there's once it detect as MPEG4 when using fw 1.07. but using fw 1.09.02, it detects as DVD all the time.

I think it's not because of firmware bug. Try to burn it once again (maybe on DVD-RW to try first). I've got such DVD-R, which looks good in PC, every avi file is playable, and in Pioneer it is loading and loading and loading and then it's impossible to play any avi (NO DISC error).

i found out the cause of the problem. when i have a dvd with CD1 and CD2 of a movie together (both CD1 and CD2 similarly named and have SRTs of their own), if i select the CD2 avi, both the SRTs get loaded as subtitles (1/2 and 2/2). The CD1's 1/2 subtitle is displayed by default even when i select to play CD2. that's why i thought the subs were out of sync and not displaying when its in fact displaying the CD1 sub for CD2. When i select sub 2/2 for CD2 then the subs are back.
i dont know if this is a bug in the original 1.09 firmware or a feature added by gufiak, and i can't think of the purpose of this feature. Hope gufiak or someone else can remove this problem in future firmwares. Thanks.

Its caused by the fact that Pioneer can't read filenames longer than 40 (I guess) symbols. I think the solution here is very simple - just name the files short or put the important difference (in your case its cd1 and cd2 text) in the beginning of the file. Of course not as first characters in the name, but not after 40 symbols.
That solved my problems.

i don't think it's filename problem because those dvd with cd1 and cd2 worked in firmware 1.07 - if i selected cd2 it will only show the sub for cd2 not both cds.
EDIT: Yes, that's the problem. i've just tested fw 1.07 and 1.15 and the subs weren't loaded at all. at least in gufiak's firmware it can be displayed.

It's beacuse gufiak has modified the subtitle loading function. It doesn't compare now the whole filename. So it's not a bug, it's a feature. I think in the future FW gufiak will do "Load all subtitles" position in menu, as it is in DV-470/575A.
Anyway - shorter filenames would fix your problem

The reason of this problem is simple... it depends on font, which is used in bank 00-01... in my firmware, I use CP1250 font here, which has "`" character for #97. For your needs, you should have " " (i.e. empty) there, so the "`" char doesn't appear in your localized menus

I am new here and quite a bit lost !
So, sorry for my silly question : where can i find the firmware with the OSD menus in french langage ? I downloaded several version of the latest firmware 1.0.9.2 but how can i verify which one is the best for me before burning my CD ?
Last but not least, where can i find the entire list of all the new functionalities comparing with the original one, added by Gufiak ?
Thanks and sorry if everything is already described somewhere, but i repeat i'm quite lost here...
I downloaded gufiak firmware modified by subz3ro, and what can I say: Great work!

Great background, great fonts, cool menus...
My only problem is: my Pioneer DV-380 can't read subtitles from divx movies with extension .sub. Even if they are in the same folder as movie file, and with same name. Any suggestions?

why don´t you try the old trick? Press pause, then forward one frame and press play again. (do it with your remote)
The subtitles magically will appear, well, at least it worked for me with a couple of divx and xvid that refused to load in a conventional way.

Hey everybody. I have a simple question (plz don't laugh at me;P)
I have the DV-2850 (not that it matters really as the FW is the same) and I
have an annoying problem. Since the player can play .ogm and .ogg video files,
shouldn't it be able to play .ogg audio files as well? I made a disc with MP3s and OGGs,
but only the MP3s are being played, and the OGGs get recognized as DivX video files.
Is there any way to fix this so I can play the .ogg audio files?
thanks,
Big Pete, Sweden
By the way, Gufiak's FW kick$ @$$!
Hi,
I am new at this forum. My compliments to all members.
I would like to increase the font size for DivX subtitles of my Pioneer DV-380.
I use CP1251 – Cyrillic.
But I can’t understand what the practical reason is for that why Pioneer put exactly these values for font size in their original firmware. They may be known how the subtitles look. :-)
Is anybody know?
Can somebody tell me which the simplest way to get bigger subtitles is and keep everything else original?
Thanks!
