Yes you can use MTKRemaker to extract the filebrowser from Gufiak and insert it to the original 1.21, but the text in the filebrowser is not placed at the same spot in original firmware as i Gufiaks. So you have to rework the filebrowser in PaintShopPro or any other grafic program or hope that someone will help you do this.
Thanks for the answer No-Worries, I only saw it now.
Do you (or anyone else) happen to know where exactly in the firmware structure the browser is? I would like to try. About the interface of the browser, I can manage well in image programs

Do you know the number of that test? ogm+subs playback then I can tell you how it did behave. But if its a No it didnt play at all, like you see the file in the filebrowser but when you click it to play the screen goes black and , sometimes you heard the sound and sometimes nothing and you actualy needed to open the tray to get back in to the filebrowser.
It's test
CONT-5F OGM subtitles test (MPEG4 ASP + Ogg Vorbis 2.0 48KHz 96Kbps CBR + Multiple subtitles), which is answered as a "No". The test says something about multiple subtitles, so I was wondering whether an .ogm with a single subtitle stream would play or not.

I any case, many thanks for your time to address my question

The subtitle in the OGM file is visible in the audio menu, not in the subtitle menu, but selecting it doesn't make any difference, the player doesn't show subtitles in the OGM files. I'm talking about subrip (.SRT) subtitles.

Mon but, si c'est possible : dézoner le lecteur Pioneer. Il est en zone 2 et s'obstine à y rester.
Merci !

No-worries, crissand: thanks
Hi to all,
I just my brand new 585A yesterday and downgraded it, or better upgraded to 1.09. I didn't even bother looking what was the current firmware.
I had the jurkey problem with the subtitles as subzero originaly posted.
Upgraded to rev4 and everything works perfect. Great job guys.
I have a couple of questions and i was wondering if someone can help me out.
First movies with packed bitsream seem to work fine after unpacking them with mpeg4modifier.
I have a movie though which indicates
GMC: Yes (3 warp points)
I saw in the thread that this must be re-encoded.
Any suggestions how to do this?
Second i am a bit frustrated with video output size.
I have a wide tv (16:9) and when i set the display on the 585 to 16:9 i get a slightly croped image (bottom and top). Subtitles display ok
If i set the display to 4:3 then i have to mess up with display settings of the tv. In order to get a correct output i have to select (14:9LS). This fills up the entire screen with correct aspect ratio but the subtitles are partly on screen and partly off screen.
I tried to use +30 pixels or -30 pixel for the positioning of the subtitles but nothing seems to happen.
If someone has had any simular experience i would appreciate if he can share it with me.
Thank you all once again.

Is the pioneer configured with a tv-system of auto, pal or ntsc? If it's set to auto, then set it to your specific system (ie pal or ntsc), then try again.
Hello everybody. I'd like to revive a post from some time ago. One of us (don't remember the name) compared the "Component" output with the RGB one and (quite surprisingly) found out that the RGB was giving better colors.
I bought a component cable two weeks ago and I was expecting an improvement in the image quality, but I have to confirm what the other mate saw: the colors are much more "alive" with RGB and if I don't change the settings on my tv, when I switch to "component" everything is darker and there is one clearly dominant color. In "Matrix" for example, everything looks "greenish". I could get a bit better results reducing the "Color" control on my tv, but the result is still quite disappointing as the colors seem a bit "dead" and missing contrast.
Anybody else noticed the same? Do you use component, s-video or RGB through SCART?
My configuration is:
TV: Panasonic 26LX50
Pioneer DV-2850
Cable: Belkin Component PureAV Silver
Regards.

Also tried to change the subtitle positions and then turned the player off? When it goes on again, it will load your new settings (otherwise it won't work).
Good luck
Thanks for the modified firmware. I think the firmware can be better in future. Will be waiting for it.
Are there any chances to overclock the player? Some of my videos are choppy, probably a little too high bitrate.
Maybe priority can be put in the ogm compatibility as it only needs to be able to display subtitles.
How about mkv? None of my mkv works.
Nice work though.

Another thing is I dun have Nero burning software. If I'm using software provided with the burner: Sonic RecordNow! 7 , wat do i have to do to make the firmware burning sucessful??

note: this is not a solution to your particular problem but can be considered

Recently, after finished downloading a popular anime, I had to reencode almost all of the 26 episodes. I tried unpacking the bitstream, then
resave them in virtualdub (hoping to rebuild the index) but to no avail. Sometimes reencode can be the only option but as I said, it may
not necessarily apply to you!
You can refer on how to reencode few posts back...

This file has a number of things that might trip up your player - Packed bitstream and audio frames split across interleaves. Since it plays at all, I'm assuming it's a DivX rather than XviD encode, or else the GMC would make the playback look *very* jerky. Your best bet is to re-interleave the file with VirtualDub or similar.
FYI, GMC is not a problem with DivX files, only with XviD due to a different implementation of the feature.
The Pioneer DV-383 is based on the MT 1389FE chipset, which supports GMC (on DivX files only) and QPEL.
Cheers,
BAC

Gufiak has swapped the 1st and 2nd function for this key, respectively, he has coded
new primary function for this key - Shuffle, and original function - Surround - is the secondary. This means, you have to hold this key bit longer to access the 2nd function (Surround) with Gufiak's modified firmware.

Well I finally fully test the Home Theater Pioneer HTZ-131 and i can tell that is a fully clone of divx performance like the DV-380 (a.k.a. DV-383). Even it can play the Ogm files good.
The only point disadvantage, is the firm update... at the time, no mod or official firm available. And from factory it no multiregion set.
So, Gufiak... I have a theory. It posible load it your mod firm, set the region to "0" and return the firm to one compatible for this model (htz-131) for fully performance of all stuff of this model (radio tunning, speakers volume control, equalization, etc.)?
In theory sound posible, but in practice i duno.

Here is a list of keys with secondary functions:

* 0 - VFD dimmer
* ENTER - set region 0 (region free) - you will be able to play any DVD-Video movie
* CLEAR - set default region - it will bring back the default region which was set before
making the player region free
* SURROUND - "SURROUD" is now the secondary function, primary function of this key is "Shuffle"

I have tested the latest gufiak's firmware and I found an incorect behaviour when I tried to navigate into the main dvd menu of "Matrix". This dvd is region 1 (1999 edition), my default region is 2 (original firmware) or 0 (Gufiak's release).
In fact, when the menu appears on the screen I have a green square cursor to select my choice (movie, language, bonus...) but If I want to go on the next line the cursor jump too far.. when I want to acces to the third line the cursor is out of the tv screen!
