Mtz, can you explain why fonts flicker? I did a font and window position mod on one firmware and the fonts were also flickering, but I don't know why? Knowing where the problem is, would allow me to solve it easily, next time this happens. Thanks!

In MTK Windows the Top and Left value must to be always odd.
Search with "odd" in this forum and you'll see that I sometime ago I said that.

Today I got myself a new Denver 228 so I'm ready to start "destroying" my first Mediatek based player.

This Denver player appears to be going out of stock. Now I'm starting to see a new Denver, model 728K. It's also Mediatek based but even more cheaply made than is usual.

Thanks for firmware, but every time I try to upgrade, Smartvision hangs. Does upgrading works only through COM port? I've tryed all kind of burning CD's. R, RW, DOS, MEDIATEK label, so on, so on.

For that version of smartvision is only help upgrading from com port its some problems in original firmware .

MTK font creator with 2 piksel black outline buth when puth in player
on screen in white beckgraund don´t see black outline it´s lite gray
how solvd that problem

I dont now if you read my mesage sent last week I give new smartvision with 16bit firmware and is posible upgrade from CD problem with fonts is same.

Sorry for disturbs you both I don’t have any more that player because its replace from diler because isn’t backup from CD, I give the same model with same hardware and different 16 bit firmware all is same but servo is different and it’s possible upgrade from CD. I send you new firmware.
Do you mod him wit the same modification like in you last firmware SmartVision820_1250_v04_Mtz end I tray after that.

- for srt subtitles max 160 characters on 3 lines
- subtitles displayed from the bottom
- you can see extensions of filenames
- you can see srt and sub subtitles in filebrowser
- new "Default Settings"

is it posible that on ds-820 firmware becouse that like similar player

In subtitles suport me 3 lines but its see only 60 characters if it posible to mod for more characters in 3 lines.

I test v05 its work great its meny new improvemets:

- for srt subtitles more than 120 characters on 3 lines
- subtitles displayed from the bottom
- you can see extensions of filenames
- you can see srt and sub subtitles in filebrowser

do You know why Smartvision DS-N820 loses frames (the picture flickers) when movie is coded with Xvid?? DivX movies work without any glitches and flickers, but XVID coded movies either loose frames or flicker for some other reason.

Is this the firmware (software) or hardvare issue??

I called distributor today asking the very same question, but they said it is impossible... Hmmm... hard to believe that, even brand-name manufacturers leave that option open.

I want to commend Mtz of making this great new (hacked) firmware! I used it on my SmartVision DS-N820 and works a charm!

Anyway, I guess you guys know that SmartVision is a fake brand. It's a Chinese no-name manufacturer that sells these players OEM and then country-specific distributors put their logos on it. Items branded SmartVision are selling only in Croatia.

BTW, Mtz, is it possible for me to completely redesign the screen interface (custom background, screen-saver and icons) for this player and then send it to you to integrate into the latest firmware? Of course, if you have time for that... I would appreciate it!

I give that firmware from Russian guy its for ds-n820 its have multizone+icon zoom despaired after some seconds, do you add features from V05 firmware if you still have time.(only for servo 31.01.00.00 )

Here's the region lock removal procedure for this player (do this with remote):

Open/Close -> Setup -> go to Preferences -> press: 1379 -> choose your region (0) -> Enter (Play)

ribica, you know my subtitle font.
Test if for subtitles is displayed my subtitle font, not the menu font.

I tested firmware work great, subtitle fonts its ok, zoom icon despaired after some secons,region code is set to 0 (region all free).

Because its give player with many features like some expensive models.

To all people who have DS-N820 with servo 31.53.00.00 put firmware with servo 31.01.00.00 its work I tray that in 5 players after that you no need use rs232 cable its work with CD upgrade.

Don't make this! As ribica said, you'll need serial cable if you want to upgrade again the player with servo 31.53.

ribica, in the attachment is the same firmware as in my previous post but I swapped the VFD bit. Make some tests with players with servo 31.53 and after upgrade with the firmware from attachment try the V05_Mtz or the Official with servo 31.53 using only CD upgrade.
Also post how to find the informations about firmware pressing remote buttons.

Maybe I don’t explain enough, you right first with serial cable upgrade player servo 31.53. with firmware with servo 31.01. than after that its possible upgrade from CD.I do that with V05_Mtz firmware.
I tray test how you say end send post.

On screen you see information’s of yours player end region code

For change region code:

Power player, open tray
Press SETUP button
With arrow go to PREFERANCE PAGE
Press on remote 1379

Hello to everyone.
I bought this player few days ago.I downloaded firmware V06,and when i unpacked him with ultraiso there is dummy file.
For what is that dummy file?
I burned firmware on cd try to upgrade player,after 10 seconds player opened tray and stoped.I try unplug plyaer from power but nothing happened.
I went to the store to replace player,and they replaced the player.
Seconfd player i upgraded sucessfully,but before i burn firmware on cd,i erased that dummy file,becaused i was looked other firmware version and after unpacking none of previous versions non of that versions have that dummy file.
Why is thart dummy file in firmware?

You should read instructions on how to upgrade firmware next time... It takes time to upgrade firmware. After the CD is ejected from tray, you should leave the DVD player untouched from 3-5 minutes... It takes a long time to upgrade, so do not remove the power plug or turn off player during upgrade.

Firmware v06 works fine with and without dummy file, but there is a bug in this release. The indicator LED next to tray on player is orange while player is on, and completely off while player is off. It should be green while player is on, and red while off. Mtz please fix that when you get back.

I recommend using firmware v05.

I have 2 questions:



1. Is the picture quality on this player much lower than on the Cyberhome 462 (I have that one too at home). I noticed that picture is much better on Cyberhome. On smartvision player I noticed on some movies the blockines in picture (on same part of the movie Cyberhome doesn't have blockines) and sometimes few pixels stays on picture for a few frames (specialy in fast moving scenes) here's the movie info from MPEG4 Modifier:

Is that maybe because of firmware (I guess it's not because of chipset cause I think they have the same one). Is it maybe because of the settings in "SETUP" of Smatvision DVD/DivX Player. Can someone post the settings from his Smartvision Player. Specialy the settings from: Setup -> Video Setup Page -> Quality part. Ohh, and I'm using firmware version 05 from MTZ and SERVO of my player is 31.01.00.00.


2. In second row of subtitles the first letter is always missing and at the end of 2nd row it ads letter "A"?? It's same with firmware 05 and 06.
